Responsibilities
- Responsible for all Human Resources functions as related to all team members while dealing with Federal Government agencies and the state agencies in relation to the company and staff welfare.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records, including personnel action forms, timesheets, contracts, and consultant agreements.
- Organize and work independently on multiple assigned tasks, projects and complete assignments within specified deadlines.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management, outside officials and agencies, and the public, expressing ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
- Compile and analyze complex information, and research and develop solutions to complex issues.
- Accurately follow verbal and written directions from senior management.
- Conduct research regarding employment issues, benefits, workers compensation, and personnel procedures and, working with Administration, apply the conclusions to personnel policies and practices.
- Assist in hiring, including developing job descriptions and job advertisements, and screening and interviewing candidates.
- Follow the payroll process and maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in various employment fairs. Also join on a yearly basis one or two conferences about Nigeria HR environment, law or related matters.
- Leads the company’s yearly negotiation with the Unions (both Senior and Junior), both Local, Internal and at a National level.
- Participate in meetings with Unions, representing the company and subject to an agreed mandate.
- Finalize and sign agreements on behalf of the company.
- Leads company compliance with all existing Federal Governmental, State Governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to Health Administration and so forth.
- Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws and regulations. Approves all information submitted. Together with the M.D, and serves as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney.
- Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Administration and other related disciplines. A Master’s Degree will be of added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience across all HR disciplines, including employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, conflict resolution.
- Experience in a shipping or marine company will be an added advantage.
- Must have experience working in a unionized environment.
- Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Office Excel, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with the workforce.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Expatriate

Our client, an Engineering & Construction company, is currently recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below for its operations in Nigeria
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements approved business and operational plans to growth, manage a robust portfolio of clients, profitable revenue base and market share of the construction business in Nigeria
- Provides effective leadership of the operations team to ensure cost efficient delivery of quality projects and effective implementation of strategic business plan.
- Ensures that all new projects are well researched, adequately resourced and key stakeholders properly engaged to enable quality execution safely and profitably
- Ensures that joint ventures projects are well developed and executed profitably and in safe working conditions
- Ensures that all staff, especially the key technical staff are professionally managed, mentored and developed to enhance performance capacity of the business
- Works closely with the Chief Finance Officer to ensure cost effective access to project financing
- Takes active part in key business decisions as a member of the executive management team
- Ensures timely preparation and provision of accurate and up-to-date reports on the operational performance and financial health of the company, in liaison with the CEO
- Promotes knowledge retention and thought leadership insights on the business and management imperatives in the construction industry.
- Works closely with the CEO to progress opportunities and win business/projects for the company.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field
- MBA will be a plus
- Demonstrated experience of minimum 10 years within the engineering & construction industry
- 5-10 year experience in a similar position or operation direction position
- Executive Management Position experience with multiple activities
- Work experience in Africa, Nigerian experience is a plus
- Influence & Leadership skills are requested, especially to work in a very challenging environment
- High degree of personal integrity
- Result oriented, cost minded, capable to handle pressure and to meet deadlines.
