We are looking for a Senior Quality of Care Technical Advisor (SQCTA). The ideal candidate will be a senior subject matter specialist who serves as the safe abortion technical expert for Safire, applying the latest available evidence and practice on self-use of medical abortion by adolescent girls to design and implement technical guidance for the programme.
Responsibilities:
This position provides technical oversight, direction and capacity building to Safire country teams, partner organisations and vendors to support the development and implementation of approaches that centre on the delivery of over-the-counter medical abortion and girls’ self-care. The SQCTA will also be responsible for ensuring these approaches are underpinned by the highest safeguarding standards, prioritising the reduction of unsafe abortion practices and girls’ best interests. To achieve this, the SQCTA will, together with the TL, work with Safire funders, consortium partners and team members to develop a robust and innovative intervention model that can be progressively taken to scale in a sustainable fashion.
The post holder will support cross fertilisation across Options programmes, especially those based in Kenya and Nigeria, and work with Options technical team members to document and disseminate Safire results through relevant and appropriate channels.
Person specification:
Ideal candidates must meet at least the following requirements:
- Strong commitment to human rights, equal opportunities and pro-choice;
- Senior technical expertise in the field of sexual and reproductive health
- Master’s degree or relevant post-graduate qualifications;
- Demonstrable experience managing safe abortion project design and/or implementation in resource-limited settings;
- Deep knowledge of emerging issues associated with medical abortion and self-care;
- Experience working with adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights
- Ability to develop effective technical working relationships with counterparts and partners at different levels, across countries, organisations and teams;
- Right to live and work in Kenya or Nigeria (priority will be given to candidates who hail from Sub-Saharan Africa).
Additional desirable skills and attributes are:
- Recognised health practitioner qualification;
- Experience of engagement with private sector providers;
- Experience in risk management and in the design or implementation of safeguarding policies.
